INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indianapolis Colts continued to address their defense by signing free-agent outside linebacker Akeem Ayers.

The 6-3, 255-pound Ayers was a second-round pick of the Tennessee Titans in 2011 who has yet to fulfill expectations.

Ayers has appeared in 75 games, 57 as a starter, in stints with the Titans, New England Patriots and St. Louis Rams. He has collected 337 tackles, 13.5 sacks and three interceptions. Last season, Ayers appeared in all 16 games and started 10 with the Rams. He had 68 tackles, .5 sack and one forced fumble.

To make room on the roster for Ayers, the team waived recently-signed cornerback Neiko Thorpe. The Colts also signed rookie cornerback Frankie Williams to their practice squad.
