INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A stormy evening pushed back or postponed most high school football kickoffs in Central Indiana, but amid dodging the rain drops, we found two new nominees for the FasTrack Mechanical Play of the Week for week two of the prep season. Vote for your favorite below.
PLAY #1: Decatur Central’s Jason Allen Jr.
On the road at Perry Meridian, Decatur Central led 7-0 in the first quarter as the home Falcons were deep in their own territory. A good Hawks rush forced a wobbly pass, and Allen bolted for it, dove, and with full extension, was able to snag the ball before it hit the ground, giving Decatur Central the ball back. His Hawks would go on to win 27-3.
PLAY #2: Ben Davis’ Reese Taylor
Ben Davis lost to Avon in the 6A Regional round of the postseason last year, so revenge was on the Giants mind as they traveled to the Orioles this week. Avon got the ball first, and the Ben Davis defense promptly forced a fumble, giving their offense the ball with terrific field position. Still, the Oriole defense held strong, forcing BD into 4th down inside the 10 yard line. The Giants went for it, and quarterback Reese Taylor made a man miss near the line of scrimmage before fighting through a tackle and diving across the goal line for the first points in Ben Davis’ 38-7 win at Avon.
