INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – From all the prep football action we saw Friday night across Central Indiana, two plays stood out above the rest. They are nominees for the FasTrack Mechanical Play of the Week, and your vote will determine the winner.
NOMINEE #1: COLUMBUS EAST’S CAM WILSON
After a Bloomington South field goal cut Columbus East's early semi state lead to 7-3, the Olympians wanted to respond with authority. Cam Wilson took care of that, taking the Cougars' kickoff at the 15 yard line and scampering 85 yards into the end zone for the score. East's early dominance proved too much for South to match, as the Olympians went on to win 35-15, getting back to the state championship game after a two year absence.
NOMINEE #2: RITTER'S DIOMONI SMALL
Facing reigning state champion Monrovia, Ritter would need its playmakers to step up in a winner-to-Lucas-Oil-Stadium showdown Friday night. In the waning minutes of the first half, Raider QB Diomoni Small broke out of the pocket and took off running. He evaded several tackles on the way to a 36 yard gain on a drive ultimately resulting in a Ritter touchdown. The Raiders beat Monrovia 14-13, and return to the state championship game for the 11th time in school history.
