INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Jan. 14, 2014)—A former Colts coach who took the team to the Super Bowl is hired by the Detroit Lions.

On Tuesday, the Detroit Lions hired former Indianapolis Colts coach Jim Caldwell, who was the Colts’ coach from 2009-2011 and led the team to Super Bowl XLIV.

Caldwell was the offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens before taking the new position.

He was fired from the Indianapolis Colts in 2011 after a 2-14 season. Peyton Manning did not play that year due to a neck injury. Caldwell had back-to-back playoff appearances his first two years in Indianapolis.
