Fort Worth, TX  –

Before the Firestone 600 was delayed, a scary crash ensued involving Conor Daly and Josef Newgarden. Daly got loose and slammed into Newgarden causing Josef to flip on to his side and skid towards the safer barrier. He slammed into the barrier head first.

Newgarden’s car was completely destroyed. Daly was okay and walked away under his own power. Newgarden exited the car with help from the safety crew. Upon getting out of the car, he collapsed on the track. He eventually was speaking and coherent before being taken off on a stretcher. Newgarden waved to the crowd as he exited indicated he was okay.

Indycar tweeted that he was being taken to the hospital to get his shoulder and hand checked out.

Overall, Newgarden seems to be okay, and it’s miraculous that his injuries weren’t worse.
