INDIANAPOLIS–Not even a blackout could put a damper on Southport’s dominant performance against Bloomington South on homecoming night.
Southport had control the entire game. They led the game heading in to halftime, during which a power outage lasting an hour and a half occurred, and then picked right back up when the lights turned back on for the second half.
In the first quarter, Southport’s Tucker Cardell ran the ball in for the first touchdown of the game. Southport had the early 7-0 lead.
Southport then followed up a Panthers’ field goal with another touchdown. Aaron Ferguson took the ball long distance for the sore. Cardinal led 14-3.
Second quarter, Bloomington South’s Keenan Franz had a nice spin move to break a tackle and then headed straight to the end zone. The Panthers still trailing Southport by 4 and were down 24-10 at the half.
In the second half, Ryan Wagner and Evan Higgs each had a touchdown giving the Cardinals a big 38-10 homecoming win.
