INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --Good Wednesday afternoon! After days of t-storm chances, today is no different with showers and t-storms moving back into the state tonight. We're tracking an upper-level low pressure that will move in from the west tonight and that, coupled with warm air and high moisture is already sparking thunderstorms in Illinois.

WXIN Default

Some of the t-storms that move into or develop in Indiana tonight may be strong to severe with damaging wind gusts and large hail. While the tornado threat is low, it cannot be ruled out, especially across far western and southwestern Indiana where the better dynamics are. The SPC has highlighted western and southwestern Indiana in a slight risk for severe weather tonight.

Day 1 SPC Outlook

Timing of t-storms will be generally after 6 or 7 p.m. starting out west. Here's a look at our high-resolution model.

HRRR Reflectivity

The wet weather will continue to spread east into central Indiana through the night.

HRRR Reflectivity

The rain looks to taper by Thursday morning but additional showers and t-storms will move in midday Thursday and into the late afternoon as a cold front pushes across the area. Highs will reach the upper 70s.

RPM 4 km Precip Type

Friday will bring a mostly sunny sky with highs near 70 degrees. Rain will move back into the area Friday evening.

Saturday's weather for the Grand Prix will be much colder with highs only in the upper 50s as a strong trough of low pressure dips down into Indiana from the north. We'll have showers around in the morning but they should be cleared by the afternoon. Here's a preliminary look at the forecast.
