We had a very cold start to the day with temperatures dropping down to 13°F to kick off Sunday morning! Skies have been mostly sunny throughout the day but this isn’t enough to get us out of this cold “funk” for the afternoon. Temperatures topped out at 27°F as expected. Skies will remain mostly clear again tonight but winds are more in our favor this time and that should prevent us from falling as far. Lows are expected in the upper teens across the state.
Clouds will be moving in fast on Monday as we start to build in some more moisture ahead of an approaching cold front. We’ll start the day with partly cloudy skies but by the noon hour, we will easily be looking at mostly cloudy, if not overcast skies. Winds from the south will be pumping in slightly warmer air compared to what we saw over the weekend and this should get us into the mid to low 30s. But all eyes go to the radar for the evening commute. I’ve been watching this for a couple of days now and it looks like we could easily see some snow showers or flurries during the evening drive in our northwestern locations. This is where we see the best lift and moisture Monday evening but you cannot rule out some isolated pockets of snow further to the south and east. One of our in-house models even pushes snow as far southeast as the city by 6 PM.
For the most part, we should see little to no accumulation out of this weak cold front. But trace amounts of snow and up to a few tenths of an inch of snow cannot be ruled out. Be sure to tune in starting at 4 PM Monday as we track the progress of this snow system!
We’ll continue to see the chance for a few spotty snow showers on Tuesday, especially in southeastern Indiana. This, once again, could bring in trace amounts to maybe a tenth of an inch of snow to portions of central Indiana.. We’ll be watching it closely throughout the day. And our snowfall chance isn’t done quite yet. We’ll see another weak boundary moving through the state on Wednesday bringing in a minor chance for snow. But this too should result in little to no snow accumulation. Sunshine returns just in time for Thanksgiving day and temperatures slowly start to climb. We should get back into the mid 40s by the start of the weekend!
