INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 1, 2014) — Early morning storms knocked down trees and power lines Tuesday, causing a variety of problems in the Circle City.
Initially, large tree limbs partially blocked four of the five lanes on Fall Creek Parkway, a major thoroughfare on the near north side of Indianapolis, just north of 32nd Street.
By 5:50 a.m., a crew from the Department of Public Works had cleared the northbound and southbound lanes of tree debris and traffic returned to normal.
Before the DPW crew’s arrival, FOX59 News had spotted several cars swerving in and around the damage in the roadway.
Traffic lights at several intersections on 38th Street and elsewhere were not on as power outages quickly totaled in the tens of thousands in the early aftermath of the storms.
Some of the most astounding damage came from Value City Furniture in Greenwood, where storms knocked out the windows.
